The Federal Government has released draft guidelines for the Suburban Jobs Program for public comment.

The objective of the Suburban Jobs Program is to assist state and local governments to plan for and provide enduring employment opportunities in the growing outer suburbs of major capital cities.

The call for comment on the draft program guidelines comes after the Federal Government’s Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities consulted state government agencies to discuss strategic planning activities in major cities.

Once finalised, the program guidelines, application form and funding agreement will be available on the Department’s website and eligible applicants will be invited to submit applications for funding. Applications will be assessed against the eligibility and selection criteria outlined in the final Program guidelines, after which recommendations for funding will be made to the Minister for Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities.

Comments are being sought until 21 October and can be made directly to the Department.
