The Queensland Government has announced the appointment of a Blair Davies as the state’s new Business Commissioner.

Mr Davis will be head a new unit to drive reform within the state’s business community aimed at capitalising on the state’s booming resources sector.

Finance Minister Rachel Nolan welcomed Mr Daives’ appointment, saying that the new role forms part of the State Government’s bureaucratic reform.

“I have full confidence in his ability to hunt out unnecessary regulation and provide a strong interface between Government and business,” Ms Nolan said.

“I look forward to getting to work with my newly established office to cut red tape here in Queensland.”

The establishment of the Queensland Business Commissioner follows advocacy over red tape from both the Australian Industry Group (AiGroup) and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland (CCIQ).
