The Northern Territory Government has launched the Supporting Territorians campaign aimed at increasing awareness of government support programs available to the populations.

“Territorians have access to a range of grants, concessions, rebates and subsidies,” Deputy Chief Minister Delia Lawrie said.

“The Territory Government is helping Territorians get ahead with some of the most generous subsidies and concessions in the country, and if you’re a parent, student, senior, apprentice, carer, small business owner or community group, chances are there is something for you.”

Some of the support policies that Ms Lawrie drew attention to are:

  • Back to school payment scheme and travel assistance for school students in remote areas
  • Support for young Territorians, including the Workwear/Workgear Grant, a range of scholarships, and financial assistance for first home buyers
  • Support for seniors, pensioners and carers, including the Seniors Card scheme and subsidies on household expenses such as power/water
  • Support for businesses & NGOs, including financial assistance to enhance their performance and profitability, financial assistance to promote themselves internationally, and business centres in Alice Springs, Tennant Creek, Katherine and Darwin.
