Warren H. Williams, a prolific Australian country music artist, has announced he will run for a Senate seat in the federal election.

The ARIA-nominated singer and songwriter will run on the Greens’ Northern Territory Senate ticket, "I know it's a cliché," he said, "people get up and say, 'oh we've got to look after country'... but we only talk about it; we never do it ... looking after the place for our people, for our children in the future."

Mr Williams regularly tours the country with fellow Australian musician John Williamson. He says he was not drafted by the Greens party and will campaign on issues important to all Territorians.
