Have your say on Victoria's creative future
Have your say on Victoria’s creative future
State-wide consultation is now underway for Victoria’s next creative industries strategy - a plan to further grow the state’s $31 billion creative economy, create new jobs and offer more creative opportunities for all Victorians.
The public consultation process will run for eight weeks, including a series of public forums across the state and an online consultation platform where you can post your big ideas, respond to various themes, or upload a written or video submission.
In 2016, the Victorian Government launched the state’s first creative industries strategy, Creative State 2016-2020, which included 40 targeted actions, and was backed with a $115 million investment.
Creative State supported a range of new programs and approaches, from accelerator programs for creative businesses, to support to activate co-working hubs and creative spaces. Now in its final year, all actions of the strategy have been delivered or are underway.
Since the strategy was launched, the economic impact of Victoria’s creative industries has grown by 23 percent to $31 billion. 260,000 Victorians are now employed in the creative industries, up 15 per cent, and cultural tourism is worth $2 billion, up 88 per cent.
The 2020-2024 strategy will build on Victoria’s successes to date and respond to the challenges and opportunities of the future. In line with our First Peoples Action Plan for the Creative Industries, First Peoples perspectives, experiences and expertise will be integral to the design and implementation of the strategy.
In addition to a series of public forums hosted by Creative Victoria, organisations, representative bodies and other groups are encouraged to host their own consultation sessions.
Creative Victoria’s public forums will be held in the following locations:
