Primary Purpose of the Role 

The Director Program Management Office leads strategic program management, structures and frameworks across Service NSW, including leading transformational, cross-agency, and cross-functional programs, to deliver NSW Government customer service delivery reform programs and objectives. The Director is responsible to senior stakeholders to deliver program outcomes within timelines, resources, and ensuring benefits realisation.

Key accountabilities and responsibilities include:

  • Oversees of the multi-faceted and multi-disciplinary programs to ensure government and Service NSW objectives are met and projects have the required visibility and support from Service NSW from multiple stakeholders.
  • Refines the PMO strategy and leads the design and implementation of a common project management frameworks, methodology, standards and tools to drive and facilitate the successful delivery of program across Service NSW. 
  • Leads the execution of a PMO governance, reporting and review framework to provide a holistic view of all organisational program activity, including reports on expenditure and budget deliverables, and consolidating Benefits Realisation reports aligned to the Benefits Realisation Framework. 
  • Leads consultation with key PMO stakeholders, to drive proactive participation of the business to achieve program objectives ensuring senior stakeholders are engaged and projects consider the impact of a wide range of complex interrelating issues.
  •  Manages interdependencies and coordination across Service NSW and agency partners as required to ensure that information relating to deliverables, risks and issues are effectively communicated between stakeholders and that key performance indicators are monitored and evaluated.
  • Fosters collaborative and mutually supportive relationships with project leaders and senior stakeholders, provides coaching, training and support to enhance SNSW’s project/program management capability, and improve collaborative development and project results.

Essential Requirements:

  • MUST be an Australian Permanent Resident or Australian Citizen to apply for permanent roles within Service NSW.
  • Proven experience at senior management level directing and leading change and a PMO function.
  • Extensive experience delivering complex projects.
  • Currency of knowledge and understanding of industry best practices in multi-channel service delivery operations and sound business acumen to manage large business operations.
  • Relevant tertiary education and/or broad industry experience in the delivering multi-faceted reform projects.
