Forensicare is the statutory agency responsible for the provision of adult forensic mental health services across Victoria.
Forensicare is situated across five sites across Victoria with its largest site being Thomas Embling Hospital, located in Fairfield just 15 minutes north of the Melbourne CBD.
Thomas Embling Hospital is a 116 bed secure hospital providing acute care, rehabilitation and continuing care services.

About the role:

The Occupational Therapy team at Forensicare are seeking a Senior Occupational Therapist to join their rehabilitation service. Occupational Therapists working at Forensicare  are committed to providing occupationally-focused practice. We embrace the opportunity to support people to identify and address their occupational needs in a strengths based, recovery centered manner. We will work collaboratively to ensure occupational opportunities are meaningful, purposeful and promote safer outcomes for all. This service is dedicated to working within evidence based practice models and frameworks in recognition of our belief that supported engagement in meaningful occupation is a key component to whole of health care.

 Duties:

  • Hold therapeutic and service portfolios.
  • Lead and contribute to occupational therapy service development
  • Provide recovery orientated occupational-focused practice to consumers
  • Complete assessments and interventions with awareness and consideration to clinical reasoning within the forensic mental health environment.
  • Plan, develop and facilitate Occupationally Focused Therapeutic Programs
  • Provide clinical supervision to Occupational Therapists

 Skills and experience:

  • Commitment to recovery-orientated practice
  • Confidence with group facilitation and program evaluation
  • Dynamic clinical leader for other clinicians and students.
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Commitment to reflective practice and ongoing professional development.
  • Efficient and effective time management and clinical prioritisation skills.
